How fast are Macau’s Golden Week arrivals growing?

Published 6 October 2026 · Azea Research

Data period: 1–4 October 2026 • Official cutoff: 5 October 2026, 06:00
Draft date: 6 October 2026

Macau recorded 750,825 visitor arrivals from October 1 to 4, according to provisional figures on the Macao Government Tourism Office’s dashboard. Calculations using the office’s current historical series put that four-day total 11.8% above the corresponding dates in 2025.

The dashboard also displays a 32.8% increase beside its daily average of 187,707 arrivals. That larger percentage reconciles with a different comparison: the first four days of this year’s holiday against the average across all eight days of the 2025 holiday.

The historical chart lists 671,577 arrivals for October 1–4, 2025, and 1,131,023 across October 1–8. Its full-holiday daily average was therefore about 141,378. Comparing this year’s four-day daily average with that figure produces a 32.8% increase; comparing the two four-day totals produces 11.8%.

Azea Research analysis: Readers tracking growth over the same calendar dates should use 11.8%. The 32.8% figure measures daily volumes relative to last year’s entire holiday. In a partial-holiday update, report the dates covered alongside the total and growth rate. This makes the comparison reproducible and prevents a change of denominator from being mistaken for a change in momentum.

Even the four-day comparison does not hold the calendar mix constant. October 1–4 fell Wednesday–Saturday in 2025 and Thursday–Sunday in 2026. The holiday also runs seven days this year, compared with eight last year.

The current dashboard’s data cutoff is October 5 at 06:00, covering arrivals through October 4. These provisional figures should not be extrapolated into a full-holiday total or a gaming-revenue forecast.

Sources and method

  1. MGTO: Golden Week provisional dashboard, cutoff 5 October 2026, 06:00
  2. MGTO: Historical daily arrivals, October 2025; accessed 6 October 2026

Method: (750,825 / 671,577 − 1) × 100 = 11.8003%; ((750,825 / 4) / (1,131,023 / 8) − 1) × 100 = 32.7692%. The comparison basis is Azea Research’s numerical reconciliation, not a separate MGTO explanation. Both calculations consistently use MGTO’s current historical series; earlier provisional 2025 releases differ.
